An excellent alternative, or addition to, the Sightseeing Tour of Moscow is the Moscow River Cruise. The Moscow River meanders through the city making several loops past all the key sights, such as Stalin Skyscrapers, the University Campus, Olympic Stadium, the Gorky Park, Monument to Peter the Great, Christ the Saviour Cathedral and, of course, the Kremlin. As the boat slowly passes by the sights, you have plenty of time to make most beautiful pictures and capture unusual views on camera – and these unique photo opportunities would alone justify time spent on the cruise. Board a comfortable boat, get a drink at the bar and enjoy the views as your personal guide will give you explanations about the sights and prompt you to the best photo opportunities.
There are two key types of boats available for the cruise – big yachts with onboard catering and waiter service, such as Radisson Flotilla (River cruise route in Moscow), which make a whole round trip lasting 2.5 hours the whole year round, and smaller hop-on hop-off boats where you can take a one-way trip that last 1-1.5 hours only from April till September.
We recommend taking the River Cruise in Moscow also at night, on the Radisson boat, where you can enjoy dinner onboard, capture stunningly beautiful views of Moscow’s landmarks all featuring architectural lighting design, and see people dancing and having good time on the river embankment of the Gorky Park.
