Private Tour - Must See in Moscow (History and Culture)

The private tour Must see in Moscow will give you numerous insights into the Russian history and culture. It would be an ideal introduction for those who visit Moscow for the first time.

The program includes a metro tour, walking tour of central Moscow, a lunch break, and the Kremlin Grounds and Cathedrals tour.

Meet your private guide at 10.00 at your hotel lobby by the reception. The guide will hold the IWIR sign.

Start your day with a metro ride. Do not be misled by the name – the Moscow underground transport system is not just a piece of urban infrastructure. Built by the Soviet Government to glorify the Soviet Union, as a propaganda tool, it soon became an ambitious political project. No expense was spared to turn the station halls into the “palaces for the people”. Bronze chandeliers and sculptures, frescoes and mosaics, and all sorts of decorative stones adorn the station halls. The metro tour takes you around the most opulent stations.

Following the metro tour we offer a Walking Tour of Central Moscow that includes all the essentials, such as Red Square with its key sights St. Basil’s Cathedral and GUM – the historical shopping arcade, Lenin’s Tomb, and the Bolshoi Theater. You will see the building of the Russian parliament, or the Russian State Duma. Your private guide will take you to the Alexander Garden near the Kremlin wall to the WW2 memorial to watch the high-stepping Kremlin Guards during change of guards ceremony, which takes place every turn of hour in any weather. All the venues and sights mentioned above are viewed outside.

Approximately at 13.00 your guide will bring you to a Russian restaurant in the center of the city, for a full sit-down lunch or a quick coffee break (lunch is not included).

After lunch the itinerary takes you to the heart of Moscow – the Kremlin. Entrance time 15.00.

No tour of Moscow would be complete without visiting the Kremlin, a medieval fortress in the center of the city. Everything breaths history here, both ancient and the most recent - from the coronation church of the Russian Tsars to the office of the President of Russia. Inside the red brick walls you will find cathedrals and palaces, gardens and squares, beautiful views and picture opportunities, among them the famous (and huge) Tsar Bell and Tsar Cannon. Visit inside one or two historical cathedrals is included into the tour.

The program ends at 16.30 (4.30pm) outside the Kremlin.
