MAKS, or International Aerospace Show, is an international air show held at Zhukovsky International Airport, 40 km (25 miles) southeast of Moscow. The event is held biennially on odd years.
The Russian rival of Le Bourget Air Salon and Farnborough Air Show. MAKS runs under the patronage of the President of Russia and is one of the biggest air shows in the world hugely popular among the citizens of Russia and foreign guests, with up to 300,000 visitors each day.
MAKS is not only the platform for demonstrating the latest military and civil aircrafts developed in Russia and other countries across the world, it is also the stage for aerobatic teams performances, notably, the Swifts (Strizhi) flying MiG-29A and MiG-29UB fighters, and the Russian Nights (Russkiye Vityazi) flying Sukhoi Su-27, Su-30CM and Su-35C, the latter being the newest Russian fighter jet. The teams usually use four and six aircrafts for their aerobatic exercises, and sometimes combine formations. All in all, it’s an amazing sight and the main attraction of the air show.
The nearest MAKS Aerospace Show will be held in July 2023. We will be happy to organize a private tour to the show, including tickets, private car or minivan and a guide/interpreter for assistance if needed. Please, contact us.
