Museum of the Great Patriotic War in the Victory park contains two levels with the memorial halls of Grief and Glory. In 6 dioramas in the first level images of major battles of the Eastern front (Moscow, Stalingrad, St.Petersburg, Kursk, Kiev, Berlin) are reconstructed quite vividly. The second level represents samples of weapons and amunition of two armies, along with the big collection of photoes, artifacts and installations.

This museum was erected 150 years after the battle of Borodino to house the 115-meter long, 15-meter high 360° painting of the battle on Sept.7, 1812. The battle was fought 85 km West of Moscow on the vast field near the village Borodino between Napoleon on the French side and Kutusov on the Russian side. The panorama painted by a well known battle painters Franz Roubaud is an amazing feat of artistic and historical reconstruction.
