Museum of the Great Patriotic War

Museum of the Great Patriotic War in the Victory park contains two levels with the memorial halls of Grief and Glory. In 6 dioramas in the first level images of major battles of the Eastern front (Moscow, Stalingrad, St.Petersburg, Kursk, Kiev, Berlin) are reconstructed quite vividly. The second level represents samples of weapons and amunition of two armies, along with the big collection of photos, artifacts (including Stalin's desk from the Kremlin study) and installations.

In the park around museum building we've got impressing monuments (the Victory obelisk and the Holocaust memorial) and big exposition of the Soviet hardware of WWII. The monuments are recent, and help to see the current official view of Soviet history. The museum tour takes 1,5-2 hours. Tour including the park, it could rise to 3 hours.

Museum is open every day from 10:00 untill 20:00 (Thu and Fr untill 20:30) and it is closed on Monday.
